McDonald's give Scholarships to talented employees

Pictured are the six recipients of McDonald’s local 2009 Crew Scholarship Awards! Each Crew member received a $1,500 Scholarship May 13 at McDonald’s 15th Annual Crew Scholarship awards ceremony at the University City McDonald’s on Olentangy River Rd. in Columbus. Winners were chosen by area teachers who considered grades, extracurricular activities as well as the students McDonald’s performance record as part of the judging process. All winners are current McDonald’s employees.

Local photographer displays powerful images from Congo

Photographer, Stephanie Matthews opened her exhibit "The Power of the Human Spirit" which chronicles her one month journey to the Democratic Republic of Congo. The exhibit opened Thursday and runs through June 14th at the King-Lincoln Gateway Building, 750 East Long Street, 3rd Floor. The exhibit  is free and open to the public.


2009 Farmers market up and running

Amy Mattingly, owner of Mikamy Meadows, shows Mayor Mike Coleman her earth-friendly bath and body products during the opening of the Pearl Market downtown. The Market hosts a dynamic mix of fresh produce, handmade baked goods, sauces, jams, candies, cheeses, and other specialty foods alongside of handmade clothing, handbags, jewelry, gifts and other crafts. Currently, over 70 vendors are enrolled to participate in the 2009 season with an expected 90-100 to participate.

The market will run every Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30 am - 2:00 pm, May - October.
