Felix Hoover Bio After serving nearly 20 years as a reporter for The Columbus Dispatch, Felix Hoover has continued his career in journalism, primarily as a writer for YourNewsColumbus.com. Working with YourNewsColumbus.com, an online publication that deals solely with local news, Hoover has resumed worked as a generalist. Nevertheless, he maintains ties to beats he worked at the daily newspaper, including religion, local government and social services. During his tenure at The Dispatch he forged relationships with child-welfare professionals and with clergy and other religious leaders throughout central Ohio.. He has written numerous articles on adoption and can reach community advocates with the potential to influence prospective adoptive parents. Hoover was one of the principal reporters in the award-winning series The Color Chasm, a local examination of racial disparities in education, housing, health and other issues. He continues to write about community events, issues and personalities as a freelance journalist and local historian, not only for YourNewsColumbus.com, but also for weekly, monthly and quarterly print publications that are oriented to the black community. Hoover, a founding officer in the Columbus Association of Black Journalists, began his career in 1970 at WLWC-TV, now WCMH (NBC 4). He returned to journalism for good in 1982 after stints as an investigator for the Franklin County Public Defender’s office and an arts administrator for the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.
