October 22, 2009--The Central Ohio Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes  Research Foundation Mid-Ohio Chapter is co-sponsoring a free Fall Celebration for children with diabetes, ages 3-12, and their families. The event will be held Sunday, November 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Gahanna Golf Course Clubhouse, 220 Olde Ridenour Rd., Gahanna, Ohio. Activities will include a diabetes education session for parents, a nutritional snack, games and crafts. The event is free and open to the public.

The Fall Celebration enables children with diabetes to participate in trick or treating on beggars’ night, without giving into the temptation of sugar. Instead children with diabetes can exchange their treats for toys and other items at the Fall Celebration. Children are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costume.  There will be judges on hand to select the best costumes on that day. Pre-registration is required.  Contact the Central Ohio Diabetes Association for more information and to RSVP at 614-884-4400 or 800-422-7946 and via e-mail at coda@diabetesohio.org.

One in 10 people in Central Ohio will develop diabetes. The Central Ohio Diabetes Association helps people with diabetes detect their condition, prevent onset and complications, and learn to live well with the challenge of diabetes. The Central Ohio Diabetes Association is a non-profit organization providing services to people with diabetes regardless of their ability to pay.
