Athletes of the Week
Jeff See, a four-time All-American, will represent the Buckeyes June 9-12 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. after finishing second overall in the 1500m semifinals. The senior's season-best time of 3:43.14 was just off of the first-place pace set by Notre Dame's Daniel Clark (3:43.08).
Letecia Wright will represent the Ohio State women's track and field team at the NCAA outdoor championships after finishing in the Top 12 of the 100m hurdle semifinals at the 2010 NCAA East Regional Preliminaries. Wright finished eighth overall - third in her heat - in a personal record time of 13.05, the fourth-best run in Ohio State outdoor history.

 

Baseball
Head coach: Bob Todd
Four Ohio State Buckeyes were selected to the All-Big Ten Conference baseball team May 25, including junior right-hander Alex Wimmers being named Big Ten Pitcher of the Year for the second consecutive year, the conference office announced. Wimmers, a junior from Cincinnati, was a unanimous first-team selection and senior Zach Hurley, from Springboro, Ohio, was also named a first-team outfielder. Worthington, Ohio senior Ryan Dew was tabbed the second-team designated hitter and Victorville, Calif., senior Michael Stephens was named a third-team outfielder.

 

Women’s Golf

Head coach: Therese Hession
Rachel Rohanna, who recently concluded her freshman season with the Ohio State women’s golf team, was one of two recipients of the Frank Fuhrur III Award presented annually to the top college performers from the West Pennsylvania Golf Association. Rohanna, from Waynesburg, Pa., is the first female recognized in the eight-year history of the award and she shares the 2009-10 honor with John Popeck from the University of Maryland.

 

Men’s Lacrosse

Head coach: Nick Myers
Ohio State midfielder Logan Schuss will wrap up his rookie campaign as the most decorated freshman in program history after he was named an honorable mention All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, the USILA announced May 27. Schuss, the ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Year and a first team all-conference selection, is the first Buckeye to be tabbed an All-American as a true freshman.

 

Women’s Lacrosse
Kelly Haggerty, a senior on the Ohio State women's lacrosse team, headlines the list of Buckeye West Region selections, announced May 28 by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Haggerty was named to the first team for the second-consecutive season, while junior Annie Carruthers and sophomore Alayna Markwordt each earned a spot on the second team.

 

Rowing

Head coach: Andy Teitelbaum
Charlott Goldstein and Sara Wallace, members of the Ohio State rowing team were named to the 2010 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-Central Region Team the group announced May 26. Goldstein earned first team honors and Wallace was a second-team recipient.

 

No. 4 Men’s Tennis (35-2, 13-0 Big Ten)

Head coach: Ty Tucker

• Five-time defending Big Ten regular-season and tournament champion Ohio State rounded out 2010 after the two remaining Buckeyes were knocked out of the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships May 28 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. The Buckeyes advanced a player to the singles Round of 16 for the fourth-consecutive season, while placing a doubles tandem in the Round of 16 for the third straight year.

 

Men’s Track and Field

Head coach: Robert Gary

Ohio State All-Americans Matt DeChant and Thomas Murdaugh stepped up their game on the big stage May 28 at the 2010 NCAA East Regional Preliminaries, using season-best performances to secure invitations to next month's national championships.
The Ohio State men's track and field team enjoyed a record-breaking final day of competition May 29 at the 2010 NCAA East Regional Preliminaries. Jeff See, Cory Leslie and OSU's four-time defending Big Ten champion 4x400m relay team will represent the Buckeyes June 9-12 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.,

 

Women’s Track and Field

Head coach: Karen Dennis

Maggie Mullen will represent the Ohio State women's track and field team at the NCAA championships next month after her runner-up finish in the javelin throw May 27 at the 2010 NCAA East Regional Preliminaries.

Letecia Wright and Christina Manning will represent the Ohio State women's track and field team at the NCAA outdoor championships after finishing in the Top 12 of the 100m hurdle semifinals May 29 at the 2010 NCAA East Regional Preliminaries.

 

Wresting

Head coach: Tom Ryan

It was a busy Memorial Day weekend for a few current and former wrestling Buckeyes as they competed in the University and Junior World Team Trials at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Reece Humphrey and Nikko Triggas won titles in their respective weight classes, while Colt Sponseller finished second.
